Hipster Christianity: The Social Club, Identity, Community – that lacks fruit.

If you put up a Christian façade you would convince many people and yourself you’re a good person, but you won’t share water with those closest to you. It is in your closest relationships that your real true character is revealed. Ensure your witness to them is without reproach.

If you could speak to God only through those you have hurt, by your actions and words, what would you say to Him?

…on the other hand, a Christian should not allow anyone to mistreat them, while hoping God will change their character. Letting one part of the body harm you again and again, will damage your faith. There must be exceptions, but do not be a martyr unless you’re called to be one? God makes the distinction between people of character and those who only pretend. “Christians” in sheep’s clothes, that harm the body, are warned.

Causing to Stumble
Matthew 18:6
“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
